A comparison table is a one-time visit. The thing that actually matters after you have chosen a provider is what they do next — the egress price that quietly doubled, the model that gets retired in ninety days, the free tier that stopped being free. This page is that, and it is the only mailing list toolweight has: there is nothing to subscribe to except the feed, and it asks nothing of you.
Every entry links the tools it concerns and the comparison it moves, and material changes here are the same edits that update the numbers in the tables.

The ten-site panel, sample size and success criteria are specified above. No provider has been run through it yet, so every cell in the pass-rate column reads unknown until the first monthly run lands.

Grok Build appears
xAI entered the category in July 2026. We have not evaluated it and have deliberately left its row blank rather than restate launch claims. It is the only tool to join this roster since the last full verification pass in January 2026, and the only launch our own dates place inside the preceding twelve months — so treat the 'a new entrant every quarter' framing you will read elsewhere, including in earlier versions of this page, as unsupported by anything we have recorded.

Daytona goes closed source
Daytona moved its production codebase closed, citing AI-assisted vulnerability discovery against public repositories. The AGPL repository stays public but is no longer maintained. The practical effect for buyers is the loss of the self-host escape hatch, on the one provider in this roster whose pricing and product surface have moved most.

MySQL 8.0 leaves premier support
Oracle's lifetime support policy moves 8.0 out of premier support eight years after GA, leaving 8.4 as the supported LTS line and the 9.x innovation releases as the fast lane. Teams still on 8.0 now have a scheduled upgrade rather than an optional one.
